Unhappy Who'd be a Kurzick?

The only thing i can see that may ruin the intoxicating brilliance that is factions, is the Luxon/Kurzick war.
Dont get me wrong it should be great fun, but honestly who here is'nt planning to become a Luxon? Its gonna be WoW all over again with no Horde/Kurzicks and a million bored Luxons/Alliance.
I mean who wants to be a stick-in-the-ass gothic zealot when they could be throwing back cold ones with their pirate buddies in a Luxon camp?
Please reaasure us that there will be something more appealing to the kurzicks than chastity belts and black robes

Chastity Belts?!?!?! Sign me up!!!

I actually am leaning towards Kurzick for the sole fact that they live in a petrified forest. To me, that sounds like it could contain some really beautiful scenary

There will be plenty of Kurzicks, even though I won't be one of them. I mean seriously, SOMEONE voted for Bush, so yeah, we'll have Kurzicks. ^_^

If we're all Luxons then we can all have access to all the outposts and such?

I think Anet tried very hard to not create a "good" vs "evil" scenario. Rather its a difference in opinion and points of view.

Our fearless Kurzick leader "George Bush" as he surveys the damage from Air Force One after the Luxon invasion:

"It's totally wiped out. ... It's devastating, it's got to be doubly devastating on the ground!"

A few days later Bush meets with the Luxon president to negotiate a peace treaty between the warring nations.

Bushes comment:
"Do you have blacks, too?"

Aren't Luxons the 'barbarians' of Factions, while the Kurzicks are the more 'cultured' people who live in the big petrified forest? If so, I'm getting on my high horse and becoming a Kultured Kurzick. For the forest.

Totaly off topic, but Starsky, your Avatar made me think of Grenth attacking something lol.

On topic, I dont know if we'll be able to pick sides and stuff. For all we know, we're out to set things straight in Factions, why are they fueding? Is it a rift in a religion?? Is it a political thing?

I bet we're the ones who are seeking the answers (IE: One time we're hlping one side, then the other, then maybe someone else entirely diff)

Except that ANet's already said you'll have to choose a side. On the preorder box it says, "To all who would proceed, take heed... All must choose a side." They've even gone so far as to say that it's doing quests that will determine which side you're on, as the quests will be for one side or the other. You'd then be able to switch sides by doing quests for the other side, though it would be slow going at first because they hate you.

I won't speak from any sort of RP perspective because I'm not up on the lore. But if all the RPers and casual players will prefer Luxons for RP reasons then I will prefer Kurzicks for the ability to stomp on them.

Peace,

It will be a system where the more quests and tasks you do for one side to gain their approval, the more the other side will hate you. So if you want to be a Casual-Kurzick or a Loose-Luxon you will be able to repeatedly switch back and forth by doing certain tasks and quests for either side. This will have it's benifits as far as acessing certain areas goes, but the other option is to choose a side from the start and do everything for only one side, or a majority one side. This way when one side has control of an area, you'll have access to the better parts of that area.

A question I have is, does each individual character have to choose a side, or does each account have combined favor on either side? I'm thinking it'd be better if the latter was true because if not you could basically always have access to everything by having half of your characters on the Kurzick side and the other half on the Luxon side. This would be rather silly, neh?

Heh, this brings up an interesting point. Although something about the nomads seems more appealing to me then the fancier pants of the Kurzicks, I may end up having to choose a side depending on which side has fewer idiots roaming their streets each day.

Maybe we can spread some form of propaganda in the Factions "presear" that somehow makes the Kurzick's side seem more appealing to the young kids in the GW community so we won't have any of them stomping around and wetting themselves on the Luxon turf.

This should clear some things up.

Kurzicks: http://www.guildwiki.org/wiki/Kurzick

Luxons: http://www.guildwiki.org/wiki/Luxon

In all truth the Kurziks are far more civilised.

...so any game that has two warring sides which the player can join is leeching off of WoW? If you can't come up with any good reason why the Luxons = Alliance and Kurzicks = Horde other than the popularity comment somewhere above, I think you've got a bit of a problem with pessimism.

For the record, I wanted to play Kurzicks until I saw the pretty serpent on the Jade Sea map. I'm now in love with the Jade Sea and, thus, the Luxons.
